Who We Are

We are a large and growing emergency and specialty hospital located in beautiful Portland, Maine . Our facility is home to board-certified experts in Surgery, Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology, and Dermatology .

What You’ll Do

As a Rehabilitation Veterinary Assistant , you’ll be a key part of our Rehabilitation team, supporting the doctor and technician in providing thoughtful, effective care to our patients. From underwater treadmill sessions to laser therapy and post-op care, you’ll help pets heal while creating a positive experience for their families.


In this role, you will:

  • Greet and assist clients and patients throughout their visits
  • Assist with exams, restraint, and note taking
  • Support rehabilitation treatments , including laser therapy, underwater treadmill, massage, and physical exercises
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, kennels, and shared areas
  • Assist with lab work and basic diagnostics
  • Handle patients safely using low-stress handling techniques
  • Support treatment scheduling , patient coordination, and team communication
  • Perform data entry using EzyVet and SmartFlow for treatment records
  • Communicate with clients clearly and compassionately regarding treatment plans and at-home care
  • Assist with deep-cleaning tasks, shipping/receiving supplies, and maintaining an organized department

Anticipated Schedule
This is a full-time position

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Some holidays required 

Compensation

  • Starting at $22/hr , commensurate with experience

Requirements

  • At least 1–2 years of veterinary experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail , multitasking , and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of animal behavior and restraint techniques
  • Physical ability to lift 35–45 lbs and assist with larger patients
  • Familiarity with rehabilitation therapies is a plus
  • A positive attitude and commitment to teamwork and growth
