Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day mining activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant quarry operations that support plant feed requirements. The role involves implementing and maintaining mine plans, managing ore quality and production targets, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Key duties include supervising blasting and equipment operations, monitoring development volumes, supporting budget and reporting activities, and collaborating with plant staff on feed stone quality. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of open-pit quarry experience, strong technical skills in mine planning software (preferably Surpac), and a background in geology or mining engineering. Occasional travel and support of additional quarry sites may be required.

Duties

• Design and implement mining plans that optimize resource extraction while minimizing environmental impact.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to evaluate potential mining sites.
• Oversee the operation of heavy equipment, including excavators, water trucks, and forklifts, ensuring compliance with safety regulations such as OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with construction teams on-site to facilitate horizontal drilling and pipeline installation.
• Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform maintenance as needed.
• Prepare detailed reports on project progress, challenges, and solutions for stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulations throughout the construction site.
• Maintain effective communication with team members, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Experience

• Proven experience in mining engineering or related fields is essential.
• Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation, particularly Caterpillar machinery.
• Familiarity with oil & gas operations is a plus.
• Background in construction site experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of commercial driving practices, particularly for tanker operations, is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems related to mining equipment.
